President Saleh receives assurance letter from rebel leader

SANA'A, Aug 8 (Saba) - The rebel leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi has
confirmed his and his followers full loyalty to the republic
through ending the rebellion as well as adhering to president Ali
Abdullah Saleh's proposals for ending the war in the northern
province of Saada.

In a letter to president Saleh, al-Houthi said they accept the
proposals that president Saleh suggested and those linked to
stopping military operations in the Saada districts.

Al-Houthi said they will stop exchanging fire with the troops, open
roads and eliminate mines through destroying them or giving them to
the authorities, come down from hideouts on mountains, evacuate
citizen homes, hand over their weapons to the army and free army
hostages.

In the letter, al-Houthi also said that he and his followers will
adhere to the rule of the law and that only the government is
responsible for imposing the rule of law in the Saada province.
