Mehmanparast urges Ottawa to fulfill its commitments

Tehran, Dec 12, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said here on Sunday that the Canadian government should fulfill its commitments by thoroughly investigating the assassination of an Iranian youth in Ottawa.
Referring to the assassination of Iranian youth Yazdan Ghiasi in Ottawa, he expressed his condolences over the death of the Iranian citizen in Canada.
He reiterated that support for rights of Iranians living abroad and following up their fates are priorities of his ministry.
As soon as the Iranian embassy in Ottawa was informed of the incident it put the issue on its agenda, he said, adding that by sending an official letter to Canada’s Foreign Ministry, Tehran has called for putting on trial of the accused.
Mehmanparast regretted that Canadian officials were not responsive enough regarding the previous two cases of assassination of Iranian citizens in their country./end
