EurAsEC starts moving towards Eurasian Union
MOSCOW, December 9 (Itar-Tass) -- The Eurasian Economic Community
begins to move towards the Eurasian Union, Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev said on Thursday at an enlarged meeting of the heads of EurAsEC
member-states.
He believes that "the movement towards a common Eurasian economic
space is very successful."
"Our Eurasian Economic Community is beginning to move towards the
Eurasian Union. The degree of integration of a number of economies, namely
those of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russian is higher. This is the model that
should be expanded to all states of the Eurasian Economic Community," the
Russian president said.
Medvedev declared that at his meeting with counterparts from Belarus
and Kazakhstan three documents were signed. He quoted a passage from the
declaration signed by the heads of the three states: "The corresponding
structures of the Common Economic Space and a future Eurasian Union will
be open to other states."
Medvedev believes that this is very important, because, in effect, it
lays the foundation for an action program for the coming years."
"This is real economic integration: honest and transparent, and,
hopefully, very beneficial for our peoples," the Russian president said.
The leaders of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on Thursday signed three
agreements from the package of the CES legal framework. Now all of the 17
documents constituting the package have been inked, Economic Development
Minister Elvira Nabiullina said.
Thursday saw the signing of an agreement on a coherent macroeconomic
policy, creation of conditions in the financial markets for the free
movement of capital, and the agreed principles of monetary policies.
Nabiullina recalled that fourteen decisions at the level of prime
ministers and deputy prime ministers were concluded earlier.
