G.ZANDANSHATAR HOLDS NEGOTIATIONS WITH THAILAND'S FOREIGN MINISTER

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Continuing his official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, the Foreign Minister of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar held Wednesday negotiations with his counterpart of Thailand Mr. Kasit Piromya.
Beginning the negotiations, the Ministers introduced each other to political, economic and social situations in their countries. They have concluded the current relations between the countries, shared views on expanding the ties and the collaboration in regional and multilateral activities.
Mr. Kasit has underlined that Thailand has been making all effort to construct democracy, and hoped that Thailand's democracy will get mature in the nearest soon. Then he has said their government approved a five-year plan on socio-economic development for reducing poverty.
He has pointed out that the official visit of Mongolia's Foreign Minister is a well-timed event in a present level of the relations between the two countries. "Our countries may develop cooperation in implementing democratic principles and valuables at international arena and in mining, infrastructure, construction and other sectors," he has stressed.
In turn, Mr. Zandanshatar has noted that a wholesome situation has been arranged for both countries to boost the cooperation, and expressed a willingness to determine proposals and directions for the collaboration and to import mining and agricultural equipment and experts from Thailand.
Accepting these request, the Thailand side has promised to send a related working group to Mongolia, adding that it wants to expand the cooperation in frames of the Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency.
Mr. Kasit used to work as the Ambassador to Mongolia in 1992-1995, significantly contributing to widening the Mongolia-Thailand relations.
After this meeting, Mr. Zandanshatar was received by the Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
Zandanshatar has said Mongolia will chair the League of Democracies from next year, adding that the government of Mongolia wants to expand a cooperation the ASEAN members, including Thailand.
In response, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva has underlined an importance of the bilateral commercial and technical collaboration within the ASEAN regional integration.
The same day, Mr. Zandanshatar met with Alonkorn Polabutr, Thailand's vice minister of trade, and expressed willingness to cooperate with Thailand in the trade, tourism and mining sectors, and then put forward proposals such as creating a permanent mechanism for the bilateral economic and commercial cooperation, seeking new market opportunities like manufacturing together products made of the Mongolian cashmere and the Thai silk.
Appreciating these suggetions, Mr. Alonkorn has mentioned about possibility to make a brand product, and promised to report about it to the government.
