Optus customers cut off twice in one day

AAP - Optus mobile phone users in the Brisbane area were cut off twice on Wednesday because of a software glitch.

An Optus spokeswoman said some Optus mobile customers started experiencing problems between 6am (AEST) and 7am, with users unable to make calls but able to receive them.

The problems, which Optus blamed on a software issue, were resolved by noon but resurfaced again at 2.30pm, an Optus spokeswoman said.
"At approximately 2.30pm the issue occurred again so you can surmise from that it was related to software," she said.

The mobile service was restored by 6pm. Landlines and internet connections were unaffected.

It was the third day of trouble for Optus users in three weeks.
More than one million Optus customers in Queensland and northern NSW lost their mobile, landline and internet services for four hours last month when a contractor cut the network's main fibre optic cable on the Gold Coast.

On Saturday, mobile service were intermittently down in pockets of Queensland, Victoria and NSW.

The company has apologised to its customers for the inconvenience.
