Russia, Kazakhstan set up working group on military cooperation.
MOSCOW, December 8 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and Kazakhstan are setting up a joint working group for the implementation of agreements on military and military technical cooperation, Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said on Wednesday after talks with his Kazakh counterpart Adilbek Dzhaksynbekov.
"I believe that today's meeting was very important and useful. We
discussed a lot of issues, summed up the results of the year 2010 and
signed a plan of cooperation between the military agencies for 2011,"
Serdyukov said.
He specified that the talks focused, in particular, on issues of
military and military technical cooperation, military education and some
other issues. "A joint working group was set up for the implementation of
the reached agreements," the Russian defence minister said.
The Kazakh defence minister, for his part, echoed Serdyukov in his
assessment of the result of the talks. He also noted that the Wednesday
meeting is to "herald a new stage in the development of our cooperation".
Adilbek Dzhaksynbekov also reminded reporters that the talks had taken
place against the background of a major event in the life of Russia and
Kazakhstan - the setting up of the Customs Union, as well as more active
cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty
Organisation, "where cooperation between our military agencies must become
an example of work on other directions".
