Thai government mulling measures to ease living costs of people
BANGKOK,Dec8(TNA)- The Thai government is working out measures to help ease costs of living of people with a conclusion expected by December 17.
Thai Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij revealed on Wednesday that Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva had appointed a panel comprising hundreds of experts to consider the measures with all related aspects taken into account.
Korn said that the panel is analysing structural prices of consumer products of all categories to see how to reduce the prices to ease people's burden on costs of living in both the short and the long runs.
The finance minister noted that the panel's experts are expected to come to a conclusion on the study by December 17.
Regarding a recent diesel price hike to 30 baht per litre, Korn said the prime minister had assigned the Ministries of Finance and Energy to work together and to come out with short-term measures to be raised before the Cabinet for further consideration--aimed to assist local businesses, especially those badly affected by the retail price hike of diesel fuel.(TNA)
