Greek premier: Iran’s nuclear dispute must be resolved by talks

Athens, Dec 7, IRNA -- Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou said on Tuesday that Iran’s peaceful nuclear dossier should be resolved through peaceful means and his government is to spare no efforts to this effect.

Greek premier made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in Athens.

Papandreou expressed the hope that the recent talks between Iran and G5+1 in Geneva would help resolve the issue.

Highlighting the significant role of Greece as a member of the European Union, he said his country spares no efforts to adjust Iranian relations with the EU about regional developments.

He extended his warm greetings to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and described his recent talks with Iran President were very constructive and promising.

Mottaki convoyed warm greetings of Iranian president to him.

Mottaki said that Iran and Greece enjoy excellent relations and the ground is well-prepared for expansion of mutual, regional and international cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to the visit between Iranian President and Greek premier in Copenhagen and New York, Mottaki said such exchange of views and visits would help deepen mutual understanding.

Mottaki lauded the Greek officials for successful handling of the country’s financial crisis and voiced Iran’s readiness in to help resolve the issue.

After the meeting, Mottaki left Athens for Tehran on Tuesday./end
