Jalili links outcome of Geneva talks to approach of G5+1
Geneva, Dec 7, IRNA - Iranian chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said on Monday that the outcome of the talks is linked to the approach of G5+1.
Addressing the press ahead of his meeting with European Union foreign policy supremo Catherine Ashton who is negotiating on behalf of the '5 plus 1' group,
he said that the outcome of the talks depends on the approach of G5+1.
Talks between Iran and the so-called 'Group 5+1' (US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) kicked off in Geneva on Monday.
Jalili who is also Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has
made clear Iran's nuclear rights were 'non-negotiable.'
He said that the other party is expected to reverse its wrong policies and double-standards on Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that the new round of talks between Iran and G5+1 will yield useful outcome if the two sides have understanding on the agenda of talks.
While the western powers prefer to focus on Iranian nuclear program, Tehran
says the talks should focus on making the Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction and disarmament issues and the timetable of the United Nations to dismantle stockpiles of WMDs by the nuclear weapons states and the Zionist regime.
Jalili has said that it is disgrace for the United Nations Security Council that the terrorists are carrying out its resolutions, an angry reaction to assassination of Iranian scientists who had been singled out in the resolutions.
Iranian public opinion sees a coordination between the unlawful resolutions being passed by the United Nations Security Council and the terrorists assassinating Iranian scientists in the streets of Tehran.
Iran has reaffirmed commitment to Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Safeguards Agreement of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Iran has comprehensively responded to IAEA about the outstanding issues about Iranian nuclear program as per the Modality Plan signed by Iran and the UN nuclear agency in 2008.
