Mottaki: Manama meeting an opportunity to discuss regional issues

Manama, Dec 5, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, in a press conference here on Saturday noon, called Manama meeting as an opportunity for discussion about regional issues.

He said that Manama Dialog was about regional cooperation and deepening ties between Iran and neighboring and Arab countries and Iranian diplomats have based their interactions upon cooperation and consider this as a basic for diplomacy and strategy in regional relations.

Concerning negotiations between Iran and Group 5+1 in Geneva, Mottaki said that after several months of ups and downs, the talks will begin next week and that Iran has always supported negotiation.

He added that the Americans should learn good lessons from last decade developments and they should now know that accusing others and interfering actions and causing insecurity in other countries is an approach which has reached its end and the US in our region has turned into a source of concern and distress, because of its intentions and support for the Zionist regime.

Answering a question concerning Iran’s nuclear activity, Mottaki said that upon Non-Proliferation Treaty, all member countries have right to enjoy nuclear technology and Iran is a member state of the NPT.

He said that the anti-Iran resolution passed six months ago, and if they think they need more time to see the effects of the sanctions, they can wait more./end
