Thai king makes public appearance on his 83rd birthday
BANGKOK,Dec5 (TNA)- In his public appearance on the occasion of his 83rd birthday anniversary on Sunday, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand urged Thai people to be conscious and refrain from recklessness to prevent national damages.
On Sunday morning, their Majesties the King and Queen as well as royalties left Siriraj Hospital for the Grand Palace for their public appearance in a ceremony to celebrate the King’s 83rd birthday anniversary.
The King waved his hand to the people who were waiting to see him all the way from Siriraj Hospital to the Grand Palace. The people repeated their deafening greeting “Long live the King” to the passing royal motorcade.
In the ceremony at the Grand Palace, His Majesty the King listened to the best wishes delivered by heads of important institutions beginning with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn who represented royalties, followed by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva who represented the Thai government and people, Parliament President Chai Chidchob who represented the legislature, and Supreme Commander General Songkitti Jaggabatara.
In response, His Majesty the King expressed his gratitude and urged all parties to do their duties mindfully and refrain from recklessness to prevent national damages.
Then there was the Trooping the Color in the Grand Palace to honor His Majesty the King before his return to Siriraj Hospital.
King Bhumibol, the world’s longest reigning monarch, has been admitted to Bangkok’s Siriraj Hospital on September 19, 2009 with a lung infection and fever and has been taken rehabilitation at the hospital since then.
The compound of the Grand Palace and its vicinity were packed with Thai people wearing pink. They believe that pink is the colour that promotes good health, so they wore pink clothing to wish for the good health of His Majesty the King on his birthday.(TNA)
