Commodities worth $5b exported to Iraq via Mehran borderpoint

Ilam, Dec. 4, IRNA – Commodities worth five billion dollars have been exported to Iraq via Mehran border point in Ilam province during the past seven years.

Governor of Mehran city Valiollah Hayati said some 20 percent of Iran's total export to Iraq passed through this border point.

Hayati remarked that every day 600 lorries carry Iranian-made commodities, worth 3.5 million dollars, to Iraq, noting that the commodities are mainly fruits, vegetables, construction materials and home appliances.

Mehran border point is one of the main border passages for pilgrims and also trade exports between Iran and Iraq. Mehran city is located 90 kilometers south of Ilam, the provincial capital of Ilam Province./end
