World should not feel threatened from Iran’s N-program: Pak. MP

Islamabad, Dec 04, IRNA -- A Pakistani lawmaker said that the world should not feel threatened from Iran's nuclear program.
Talking to IRNA, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Senator Haroon Khan said that the right for Iran to develop nuclear program for peaceful purposes is there.
Expressing his views, the political leader said that Iran’s nuclear issue should thus be resolved peacefully.
Haroon Khan said that Iran has to face the criticism of the world on its nuclear program because ‘it is an unfair world’.
“Everywhere there are double-standards”, Khan said while commenting on the remarks of Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh blasting UN nuclear watchdog double-standard towards Iran.
'A new chapter should be opened [in negotiations] based upon mutual respect and equity in a bid to step up cooperation and mutual trust' Soltanieh urged.
Soltanieh made the remarks ahead of the upcoming comprehensive talks with the P5+1 group -- Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US plus Germany -- scheduled to resume on December 6 in Switzerland.
“It is not a fair world”, PML (Q) Senator Haroon Khan noted.
Political leader expressing his views said “developing nuclear program is Iran’s democratic right’ but unfortunately it not a perfect world.
Khan suggested Iran to remove the apprehensions of the world on its nuclear program to win on diplomatic front.
He opined that one has to be careful when the word ‘nuclear proliferation’ comes. “Iran has to convince the world that its nuclear program is peaceful”, said the politician.
Haroon Khan was of the opinion that diplomatic success of Iran would further strengthen the Islamic Republic.
Iran being the signatory of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can use nuclear energy for peaceful means yet US and west have been suspecting on Iran’s nuclear program saying that Iran is trying to build an atomic bomb, which Iran has strongly denied./end
