NEW PALACE OF SPORTS OPENED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Thursday, a new Palace of sports was opened in the capital city's area Yarmag.
It has been erected at a grant from the Government of China.
In the ceremony took part the Premier S.Batbold, Minister of Health S.Lambaa, Finance Minister S.Bayartsogt, Ambassador of China to Mongolia Yu Hong Yao, chairman of Mongolia's State Committee of Physical Culture and Sports Ch.Naranbaatar and other officials. A treaty on the Transfer of a new sports facility to the Mongolian part has been signed by the Ambassador Yu Hong Yao and bt the member of Mongolia's Government, the Minister of Finance S.Bayartsogt.
"To run South-East Asia's sports event in Mongolia, the Government is planning to erect in two stages another stadium for 30 thousand people. I would like to tell coaches and athletes that they must be active and make effort during trainings so as to successfully perform at the London 2012 Olympics," said Batbold.
The new Palace of Sports is designed for 5 045 spectators; its main playground is 2 950 square meters, it has two smaller halls for training, 104 rooms, including for farming, industrial and special services, as well as three rooms for press. Executor of the construction is a Chinese company from Shanghai. Some 111 million yuan were spent.
The Mongolian builders have take part in the erection, for example, they have run 2 600 meters of electric lines of 10 kW, erected two sub-stations for distribution transformers, made road for sewage of 1 900 meters and lines of clean water for 700 meters.
The Prime Minister presented cash awards to athletes who have successfully performed at the 12th Asian Games in Guangzhou. Gold medalists G.Mandahnaran and G.Naranchimeg awarded 13.3 mln and 3.9 mln tugrug. Other prizes have been given to world champion of kickboxing L.Nyamsuren, Ch.Shijir-Erdene, World Cup winner in judo Ts.Munkhzaya, world chess champion Junior D.Nomin-Erdene and world champion in amateur sumo J.Dulam.
