Gillard `on edge of seat` over WC decision

Prime Minister Julia Gillard says she hopes FIFA remembers Australia put on the best
Olympics ever when they decide whether to send the World Cup down under.
A decision on whether Australia will host the major sporting event in 2022 will be
made early Friday morning.
Ms Gillard said she was eagerly awaiting the outcome.
"Like many Australians I'm going to be sitting on the edge of my seat tonight in my
pyjamas watching the coverage come through very, very late at night," she told
reporters in Brisbane.
"I'm very excited to see the result.
"And what we can say as a nation is Australia put on the best Olympics ever - we can
put on the best World Cup ever."
Ms Gillard said she thought the bidding video - which shows an animated kangaroo
stealing the World Cup trophy and making its way past a host of Aussie stars - was
fitting.
"I'm proud of that Aussie imagery," she said.
"I think when people overseas think of Australia they do think of kangaroos and so
to weave a kangaroo comedy script around the World Cup showing some of the great
iconic places in Australia I think was a good idea."
