MPs react to nuclear scientists' assassination in Tehran

Tehran, Nov 30, IRNA – A group of Parliamentarians here on Monday condemned the recent assassination of two nuclear scientists of Tehran’s Martyr Beheshti University calling it a sign of enemies’ weakness, part of imposed sanction.
In separate terrorists acts on Monday morning, two top nuclear physics professors of Tehran’s Martyr Beheshti University and University of Tehran were attacked.
Dr. Majid Shahriari was martyred and Professor Fereydoun Abbasi and his wife were wounded.
Below are some remarks by Majlis MPs on the wicked terrorist moves against nation’s top scientists.
SHAHRIYARI WAS AMONG TOPMOST NUCLEAR IRANIAN SCIENTISTS
7th Majlis MP Hassan Afarideh and a colleague of Martyred professor Dr. Shahriari in the Beheshti University, pointed out that Shahriari was among the topmost nuclear scientists of the country. He added that “the main objective behind the assassination of this top scientist has been creating horror among other scientists.”
Afarideh, who is a member of the Nuclear Scientists Association of Iran, told IRNA Political Desk reporter an hour after the terrorist attack that Shahriari graduated from Amir Kabir University and later established the applied radiations seat at Martyr Beheshti University and trained a large number of students there.
Afarideh added that Shahriari was a very experienced scientist and in occupational record he has many scientific articles and was a top expert on computer codes, as well. Professor Shahriari was Iran’s representative at the International Sezami Project and had an academic record of teaching at universities as of 1998, the MP added.
The MP who has also been the supervising professor in Dr. Abbasi’s dissertation project meanwhile expressed delight that the assassination plot against him had failed.
The university professor said that the late Shahriari’s thesis had been assisting the country’s excavation and oil field discovery projects, while Abbasi was trying to teach the technicians how to apply the nuclear technology in the country's factories and industries optimally.
ZIONISTS INVOLVED IN MONDAY ASSASSINATION PLOTS
Meanwhile, a Member of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has accused the Zionists of their involvement in Monday assassination plots, emphasizing that the Zionists want to make Iranian nuclear scientist regret choosing the path they have taken.
Referring to last year's assassination of Professor Ali-Mohammadi, Javad Jahangirzadeh said: “Keeping in mind the similarities between that terrorist act and the recent assassinations, it is concluded that the Zionists have plotted a plan against our country’s top nuclear scientists.
ENEMIES TRYING TO URGE IRAN TO COMPROMISE RESORTING TO THESE TERRORIST MOVES
Another Parliamentarian of the National Security Commission told IRNA that “The enemies are trying to urge Iran to compromise over its righteous nuclear stands resorting to such terrorist moves.”
Seyyed Ahmad Ava’ie added in an interview with IRNA Parliamentary Affairs reporter, “When the enemies realized that sanctions and political pressure bear no fruit and inflicts no effect on the resolute will of Iran regarding its nuclear rights and the country keeps on paving its proud nuclear path, they began assassinating nuclear scientists.”
The Dezful Constituency MP said that the Zionists are beyond doubt the plotters of such wretched moves as they are the masters of horror creating in the world.
ASSASINATING SCIENTISTS TO AFFECT THE 5+1 – Iran TALKS
Spokesman of the Parliament’s National Security and… Council meanwhile said that the recent assassinations are aimed at affecting Iran’s stand at the upcoming 5+1 – Iran talks, adding that “such blind terrorist acts are incapable of affecting the resolute will of the nation and their officials.”
Kazem Jalali said, “Keeping in mind that Iran acts in nuclear field as a national demand and there is a full consensus respectively in our society the enemies have aimed at that national solidarity in the field.
The Shahroud Constituency MP emphasized that the entire political factions in the system are agreed on the importance of the nuclear technology for Iran, reiterating, “The enemies have tested the entire possible ways for affecting this national will, having found out that they have all failed in achieving any tangible results.”
Resorting to assassination acts aimed at imposing greater pressure against Iran proves their desperation, he added.
TERRORS NOT TO AFFACT IRAN’S NUCLEAR WILL
Member of the National Security and … Council Mahdi Mahdizadeh said that Iran has a sufficient number of devoted forces and scientists in the nuclear field, adding that “bY imposing these losses, the global oppression front would inflict no damage against the country's nuclear program.”
Mahdizadeh emphasized, “Iran will continue paving its way toward mastering its peaceful nuclear technology and such moves are incapable of deterring us from our righteous path.”
Similarly, the Gonabad Constituency MP noted that such assassinations have thus far borne no fruit and will ever for the enemies in the future.
ASSASSINATION OF NUCLEAR SCIENTISTS INHUMANE
Zanjan Constituency MP Sa’dolah Nassiri denouncing the recent assassinations said that they were indeed wretched moves.
Nassiri added, “The move proves that our enemies are out of their minds and all they care about is blocking the path for Iran's development and advancement.
Undoubtedly, the retaliatory move is aimed at taking revenge on Iranian scientists, he reiterated.
Nassiri noted that Iran has achieved good goals in scientific and technological fields such as the nuclear, stem cells and in the nanotech fields, which has enraged the enemies.
The representative of Zanjan Constituency at the Majlis reiterated, “The resort to such loathsome moves to preserve their monopoly in such high tech fields.” He urged concerned officials to ensure the security of the country’s elite scientists and technicians.
ASSASSINATIONS AIMED AT HORRIFYING THE PUBLIC
Another Deputy Head of the National Security and … Commission of the Majlis told IRNA, “These assassinations are aimed at imposing an atmosphere of horror in the public.”
Hojjatoleslam Hossein Sobhani-Nia added, “The terrorist attacks against the two university professors of nuclear science are not irrelevant with the last year assassination of the late Professor Ali-Mohammadi.”
Pointing out that the terrorist acts are unrelated to personal revenge but are moves against the scientific advancement of Iran in the nuclear field.
The representative of Neyshabour Constituency added, “The country’s disciplinary and intelligence officials should, as soon as possible, uproot the malicious phenomenon and not permit the embedding of the horror in the hearts and minds of the academic elites.
The presiding board member of the Parliament added, “The enemies should not be allowed to achieve their notorious goals resorting to such barbarous moves.”
Dr. Fereydoun Abbasi, who was assassinated in Daneshjou Square of Tehran, wounded and transferred to hospital, was a member of the Islamic Republic Guard Corps (IRGC) from the beginning of the revolution and attended the warfronts of the Iraqi imposed war three times. He got his PhD in nuclear physics after the end of the war.
Abbasi has been a member of the faculty of physics of the IRGC’s Emam Hossein University since 1993 and became the head of that faculty in the year 2000.
He was simultaneously active at the Defense Ministry’s Nuclear Research Department since 2002 and the head of that department’s training center.
Dr. Abbasi was also the head of Emam Hossein University’s Faculty of Physics, but rarely had time to visit that university.
In the spring of 2007 President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad awarded him the country’s highest scientific medal for his lifetime services at a ceremony held at Martyr Beheshti University.
Abbasi, 52, was an expert of the Defense Ministry in laser field and one of the very few experts of the country in separation of isotopes’ field./end
