Russia, Germany rectors call for common education, science space.
BERLIN, November 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The rectors and the deans from the
humanitarian universities of Russia and Germany called at a forum that
ended here on Saturday for creating a common Russian-German educational,
scientific and cultural space. The two-day forum was held at the Russian
House of Science and Culture in the German capital.
The participants agreed to create an Internet portal Fortuna,
including the databases on the projects in humanities and science
implemented by the universities, which took part in the forum, a
memorandum adopted at the forum on Saturday said. The document notes the
importance to organize summer research and education schools involving the
professors and students from the universities in Russia and Germany.
In 2011 a system of measures will be developed to hold during the
Russian-German year of scientific research.
The Berlin forum involved representatives from the leading
universities in Russia and Germany, particularly from Moscow, St.
Petersburg, Pyatigorsk, Yekaterinburg, Kursk, Saratov, Tver and from
Berlin, Freiburg, Konstanz and Bochum. The participants discussed various
issues of cooperation between the chiefs of the general educational
establishments in the countries, including the prospects for the
cooperation in education and business.

killed in the crash of a cargo airplane Il-76 in Karachi, Pakistan, on
Sunday, a spokesman for the Pakistani civil aviation agency said.
The local television channel Express 24/7 reported earlier that ten
people were found dead at the air crash site.
The cargo airplane was en route to Khartoum with relief supplies for
Sudanese citizens. The airplane crashed two minutes after the takeoff
falling on a residential district in Karachi. According to local
television reports, Pakistani aviation and naval officers mainly lived in
this district.
The eyewitnesses said several strong blasts went off after the crash
of the airplane. Dozens of ambulances and fire engines rushed to the air
crash site.

thousands of locomotive horn signals Saturday in commemoration of 27
people killed in a terrorist blast of the Nevsky Express train.

Saturday. A bomb planted by the terrorists detonated under the train en
route from Moscow to St. Petersburg at this time a year ago on the
Alyoshinka-Uglovka railway section in the Tver Region. If all the train

Hundreds of people brought the flowers and lit up the commemoration

hard to speak about it even a year later. The relatives died and this loss
is irreparable," St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko said, laying

terror victims at the Moskovsky railway station in the Russian northern
capital. "We should do all the best to avert similar tragedies in our
country," Matviyenko noted.
In Moscow some passengers, who went for the train embarkation, came
back to the Leningradsky railway station hall, bought flowers and laid
them down in commemoration of the terror victims.
People also came to the tragedy site, where a high wooden cross was
placed in commemoration about the tragic events. The flowers are lying and
the candles are lit up at the bottom of the cross covered with the snow
brought by a strong cyclone. All trains, which were going there on
Saturday, also gave long horn signals.
The main mourning events will be held on Monday, November 29, when a
remembrance service will be held in the attendance of the relatives of the
terror victims, a source in the Russian Railways Company told Itar-Tass.

television channel reported that at least six crewmembers were Pakistani
citizens, the nationality of another two crewmembers is being specified.
Ten people were reported killed in the tragedy so far. Their bodies
were brought to the local mortuaries. However, the rescuers are afraid
about more victims on the ground. A fire has been put out at the air crash
site and injured people are being searched for.
The airplane was en route to Khartoum with relief supplies for
Sudanese citizens. The airplane crashed two minutes after the takeoff
falling down on the Karachi residential district Gulshan-e-Jamal. The air
crash occurred at 2 a.m. local time, when people were asleep. According to
local television reports, Pakistani aviation and naval officers mainly
lived in this district.
The eyewitnesses said that several strong blasts went off after the
crash of the airplane. A major fire broke out at the crash site. Dozens of
