President leaves Tehran to open 2nd northeastern gas line
Tehran, Nov 28, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad departed Tehran for Sarakhs city to attend inauguration ceremony for second Turkmenistan-Iran gas pipeline as well as second gas pipeline for north to northeast area of the country.
The 1024-kilometer north and northeast area gas pipeline has been completed in two phases. The first phase with a length of 524 kilometers was commissioned last year and the second phase 500-kilometer line will be inaugurated Sunday morning.
Oil Minister Seyed Masoud Mirkazemi is accompanying President Ahmadinejad in this trip.
Supplying gas to 16 northern provinces of the country, creating a new corridor for swap and transiting gas to East European markets are among advantages of the 1.2 billion dollar project./end
