Capital Mayer receives UNHCR representative

SANA'A, Nov. 27 (Saba)- Minister of
State and Capital Mayer Abdul-Rahman al-Akwa discussed on Saturday with
representative of the
UNHCR to Yemen Claire Bourgeois situations of refugees in cities, specially the
Capital Secretariat, and their problems.
During the meeting, al-Akwa pointed out to the importance of a joint work program
between the Capital Secretariat and the UNHCR in order to alleviate sufferings of
refugees,
noting the significance of limiting the influx of refugees and returning them to
their homelands.
He affirmed cooperation of the Capital Secretariat with the UNHCR with respect to
refugees and the internally displaced people and providing basic services for them
such
as education and health, in addition to other services based on available capacities.
The UNHCR official reviewed tasks and works of the Commission in Yemen, indicating
that a workshop will be held mid December over civil policy for refugees in urban
areas.
