Yemen, WCO discuss customs procedures
SANA'A, Nov. 27 (Saba)- Minister of Industry
and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil held Saturday talks with World Customs Organization
(WCO) Secretary
General Kunio Mikuriya on the mutual cooperation to ease customs procedures for
private sectors and shortening customs data processions.
The talks dealt with Yemen's effort to join the World Trade Organization (WTO),
what has been done in the field of law and legislation regarding WTO's accession
and desired
role to support the Yemeni technical capacities to apply customs evaluation
agreement within the program of trade facilities which WTO participated in its
implementation.
During the meeting, Al-Mutawakil affirmed the active role of economic reforms which
were implemented to ease the international trade movements.
Al-Mutawakil pointed out what has been achieved in the area of crossing border
trade including the business report issued by World Bank, expressing his hope to
increase
the technical support provided to Yemen to develop capacities of Customs Authority
with respect to anti-smuggling customs.
For his part, WCO Secretary General expressed WCO's readiness to provide training
for the Yemeni cadres in the Customs Authority, affirming the importance of
cooperation
of all government agencies to ease the process of customs clearance and anti-smuggling.
