Post-revolution Iranian cinema recognized internationally

New Delhi, Nov 27, IRNA - Post-revolution Iranian cinema has been praised at many international forums and has been recognized at various festivals.
Cinema’s distinct style, themes, authors, idea of nationhood, and manifestation of culture has attracted international audiences to it.
Iranian Cinema was brimming with creative impulses this year, making 41st Edition of IFFI 2010, currently underway at Panaji in Goa, by selecting a handful of films with high aesthetics and heartrending content.
The Festival tries to give glimpses of the creative energy of 10 prominent film makers from Iran in the Package “Glimpses of Contemporary Iranian Cinema”, said an official release issued here today.
The Films to be showcased in the Package are: Digari (The Other) by Mehdi Rahmani, Third Floor by Bijan Mirbagheri, Iraq, the Evening of the 10th Day by Mojtaba Raie, Shab-E-Vaghe'E (The Fateful Night) by Sharram Asadi, The First Stone by Ebhrahim Forouzesh, The Day Goes and Night Comes by Omid Bonakar and Keivan, There is Nothing Behind the Door by Shabnam Orfinejad, Tehroun by Nader T Homayoun, Please Do Not Disturb by Mohsen Abdolvahab.
To represent the package at the Festival will be present four leading Directors Shahram Asadi, Mojtaba Raie, Nader T Homayoun and Nastaran Kheirandsih, and the lead actor of The First Stone, Mohsen Tanabandeh and its producer Alireza Sabt-Ahmadi.
The ten day mega event, 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI-2010), promising a treat to cinema lovers with a package of more than 300 films from 61 countres, was inaugurated by Union Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee on 22nd November at Goa.
The Best Film would be awarded Golden Peacock and given a Prize money of Rs.40 lakh, the Best Director would be awarded Silver Peacock and given a Prize money of Rs.15 lakh, Best Actor would be given a Silver Peacock and given a Prize money of Rs.10 lakh, Best Actress would be given a Silver Peacock and given a Prize money of Rs.10 lakh, Special Jury Award given a Silver Peacock and given a Prize money of Rs.15 lakh./end
