Pakistani soil cannot be used against Iran: Columnist

Islamabad, Nov 27, IRNA -- A senior Pakistani columnist here Saturday said Pakistan is committed not to allow its territory to be used for terrorist actions against Iran.

Talking to IRNA Nazeer Naji hailed the statement of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari saying that Islamabad will never allow terrorists to use the country as a launch pad for attacking the Islamic Republic.

“The statement has reflected the sentiments of whole Pakistan nation”, he added.

“Pakistan attaches great importance to its cordial equation with Iran and regards Iran as an important friend and player in the region,” President Zardari said while speaking to Iranian Interior Minister, Mostafa Mohammad Najjar.

Nazeer Naji expressing his views said that cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in fighting terrorism should be further enhanced. “Pakistan is itself victim of terrorism”, he opined.

He said that Pakistan has had good ties with Iran and Iran has always given great strategic value to Pakistan.

The journalist added that many non-state actors in Balcohistan province are working against the interests of both Iran and Pakistan.

“However, issue of terrorism could only be solved through mutual cooperation”, the analyst opined.

He was of the view that people of Pakistan and Iran share same sentiments to each other. “Iran is like brother to us and Iran’s interest is our interest”, added Nazeer Naji.

The analyst lauded the decision of both countries to form a Joint Security Commission to ensure safety at border and stop criminal activities and smuggling.

Addressing a joint press conference, Pakistani Minister for Interior Rehman Malik and Iranian Minister for Interior Mostafa Muhammad Najar said that Secretary of Interior of both countries met to make a strategy for establishment of a joint commission.

Nazeer Naji strongly believed that West is afraid of close cooperation between Iran and Pakistan adding that Iran and Pakistan are under siege of Western conspiracies.

“They do not want Iran and Pakistan to follow independent polices and that is why they are hatching conspiracies against both Muslim powers”, he maintained.

“Iran and Pakistan must cooperate with each other in every field”, columnist suggested.

He added Pakistan is a nuclear power and Iran is about to become a nuclear which is not acceptable to Western nations.
