Japan FM to hold phone talks with RF, China FMs on Korean situation.

TOKYO, November 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji
Maehara said on Friday he will hold telephone talks with his Russian and
Chinese counterparts on the situation on the Korean peninsula.
Japan and China share the point of view that denuclearization of the
Korean peninsula and lasting peace there must serve as a basis for
strategic and mutually beneficial relations, he said.
Touching on the scheduled South Korean-US drills in the Yellow Sea,
involving the George Washington nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the
Japanese foreign minister expressed the hope the North Korean leaders will
"show restraint." Earlier, Pyongyang said it considered these exercises as
an "armed provocation" and warned of a possible retaliation measure. In
this connection, Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan told the national
parliament on Friday that the government will work "in a special regime,"
until the drills are over.
