Parliament approves amending elections law
SANA'A, Aug. 05 (Saba)- In its session held on Tuesday and chaired by Speaker Yahya Arra'i, the parliament approved referring project
of amending election and referendum law to joint human rights and legislation committee for studying it.
This project comes after the parliament agreed on the government's demand to withdraw the previous amendments and including new ones in this period agenda.
Earlier, the government had presented a memo to the parliament on these amendments.
The memo clarified that this project came after long dialogue and reconciliation between the political parties that led to amending elections and referendum law.
On the other hand, the cabinet agreed on the draft Arab charter for human rights.
The draft chapter, composed of 53 items, aims at including human rights in Arab countries' basic national priorities that make these rights basic ideals guide man's will in Arab countries.
