CABINET MEETING IN BRIEF

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting, which ran Tuesday this time, the cabinet decided to withdraw submitted to parliament draft law on amending the Law on Excise Tax that was to increase two times an excise tax on cars imported. The Cabinet considers it as a premature action.
The cabinet discussed a report on participation of the President of Mongolia, Ts. Elbegdorj in Brussels the eighth summit of the Euro-Asia in October this year and decided to send it to the National Security Council of Mongolia.
The Cabinet decided to send back to Kh.Temuujin MP a draft law amending the laws "On prevention of conflict of interests in public service, "On Corruption" and a draft law amendment to the Criminal Code of Mongolia. As the cabinet believes, the draft, in which a translation of some international laws is obvious, does not satisfy the requirements of the initial stage of official documents' development, specified in the law on the development and submission of draft laws and other decisions of the Great State Hural, does not accord with other legislation. When sending back, the cabinet reflecte in it several suggestions made by members of the Government.
A Head of the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government, Ch.Khurelbaatar MP reported on Government's activities for the month of October this year. During this time, the Government held five meetings to discuss 53 questions, got au fait with 16 questions and 24 draft resolutions, issued three orders of the Prime Minister, submitted seven matters to parliament, three to the President and MPs.
A new complex of sport, erected in the metropolitan District of Khan-Uul by the grant from the Government of China, was decided to be opened December 25 and transferred then to Mongolia's State Committee of Physical Culture and Sports.
The cabinet approved the Mongolian-French Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in nuclear energy, signed in Ulaanbaatar October 14, 2010. Guidance in this document is the principle of cooperation between the two countries in the field of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, the commitments made by Mongolia to international organizations and security in the supply of nuclear energy.
The Ministers decided to support the Government's seeking a membership in the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance / IDEA /. The purposes of this organization are to help countries create the conditions for the development and strengthening democratic institutions, to increase women's participation in politics, to provide an opportunity for discussions and free dialogue between scientists and officials, policy makers, activists and professionals in issues of democracy around the world.
