SCO military cooperation geared against terrorism - secretary-general.

BEIJING, November 23 (Itar-Tass) -- Military cooperation among the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states is geared against
terrorism rather than against any particular country or a military
organization, the Chinese Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday citing
SCO Secretary-General Muratbek Imanaliyev.
The organization "is set to continue the fight against the 'three
evils' (terrorism, separatism, and extremism) to preserve peace on the
Eurasian continent, especially in the Middle East region," he said. In his
words, these three evils, along with drug trafficking and transnational
crime, pose a serious threat to SCO member states. At the same time, he
once again stressed that the SCO in no way was a military organization.
"The SCO will continue its efforts to ensure regional and global
security and development, it will also expand economic, technical and
cultural cooperation," he said. Touching on the economic aspect of the SCO
activity, Imanaliyev said cooperation in this area may help each member
country solve its domestic problems.
