Russia: exchange of strikes on Korean peninsula must stop.

MINSK, November 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russia calls for the immediate
stoppage of the exchange of strikes on the Korean peninsula, Sergei
Lavrov, the foreign minister of the Russian Federation, said in Minsk on
Tuesday.
"What has happened must be condemned. Those who shelled a South Korean
island undoubtedly assume huge responsibility," he said. "Every measure
should immediately be taken to stop the exchange of strikes," Lavrov noted.
He has said with regret there are killed and wounded as a result of
the incident. Noting that this is the third such incident this year,
Lavrov recalled that Russia had warned more than once that tension was
mounting in the region. "We have urged the sides not to give a pretext for
the situation sliding to a solution requiring the use of power," the
minister stressed. "We demand immediate measures so that the situation
should calm down and there should be no such incidents in future," he said.
