SEOUL, November 23 (Itar-Tass) - North Korea on Tuesday afternoon
local time fired dozens of rounds of artillery towards South Korean waters
and the island of Yeonpyeong in the Yellow Sea.
The incident occurred near the west sea border between the two Koreas,
where the situation has remained tense of late.
The South Korean side had to retaliate with fire, Colonel Lee
Bung-woo, spokesman for the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, said.
According to recent reports, local residents are being evacuated to
bunkers. Four military from the Republic of Korea were wounded.
