Russia, Japan`s construction cos to boost cooperation

TOKYO, November 22 (Itar-Tass) - A group of Russia's construction
companies completed its trip to Japan on Monday.
Representatives of the Moscow, Belgorod and Rostov regions, Dagestan, Siberia and the Far East took part in a construction forum organized by the International Business Corporation last week.
Over 30 large construction and industrial corporations represented
Japan at the forum that took place soon after the bilateral investment
forum in Tokyo and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in
Yokohama.
The event confirmed the interest of the two countries'
businesses in stronger mutually advantageous partnership, including that in the construction sector.
Japan's leading construction corporation Kajima seeks to get orders from Russia, deputy general manager Masatoshi Urashima said. "We design and build transport hubs, nuclear power facilities, office building and apartment buildings and take part in servicing them," he said.
Japan's Komatsu, Daikin Industries Ltd. and Mitsui Bussan investment group also expressed interest in Russia's projects.
The director-general of SAS Service, Sergei Korkin, announced the
company's plans for the construction of the port of Poronaysk on Sakhalin' s eastern coast to service oil and gas projects.
The port's launch will reduce transport costs and will ensure year-round supplies of different cargoes to Japan and other countries.
"Taking into account successful experience of joint work within the framework of Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 oil and gas development projects we would like to deepen mutually advantageous cooperation with our closest neighbour - Japan," he said.
The deputy head of the Belgorod region government, Nikolai
Kalashnikov, described the construction forum in Tokyo as productive and useful.
"The trip helped to study Japan's experience in the construction
industry, the market of materials and opportunities for establishing
practical partnership," he said.
A representative of the International Business Corporation, Oleg
Slavinsky, said "about 140 construction specialists from Russia held
business contacts with their counterparts from Japan's leading
construction companies and research centres, visited a housing
construction exhibition and construction sites in the capital and suburbs."
"The preconditions for organizing such contacts in Moscow and other regions of Russia were created. In particular, Kajima Corporation expressed interest in developing a regular dialogue," he said.
