Kurban Bairam celebrations to pass without ``loody scenes``
MOSCOW, November 21 (Itar-Tass) - Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in
a TV news program on Saturday that the Muslim holiday of Kurban Bairam
would pass without any "bloody scenes".
Asked to comment on how it could come to slaughtering sheep almost on
Moscow streets during the Kurban Bairam celebrations last year, Sobyanin
replied: "It's a matter of organization, elementary organization, which
can be settled. In Moscow, this question will be solved," Sobyanin went on
to say.
""The Muslims themselves don't need bloody scenes," the mayor stressed.
. Lavrov to leave for Germany on one-day visit.
MOSCOW, November 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov will leave for Germany on Sunday to attend a ceremony of opening of
the Nuremberg Trials Museum. During the one-day visit Lavrov is scheduled
to meet German Foreign Minister and Vice-Chancellor Guido Westerwelle.
The events in Nuremberg will be central in a series of international
memorial actions devoted to the 65th anniversary of the tribunal's trial
of major Nazi criminals.
Lavrov has repeatedly said that the Nuremberg trial was "an
outstanding example of how joint efforts of civilized states confirmed the
victory of the forces of peace and progress over misanthropic ideology."
" For the first time in human history persons guilty of unleashing a
war and the deaths of tens of millions people were prosecuted for crimes
against peace," the Russian foreign minister went on to say.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in its statement that the severe but
fair sentence of the Nuremberg Tribunal got the approval of the world
community in the United Nations decisions. It continues to be a reference
point in curbing aggressive chauvinistic actions."
At the same time, the Ministry drew attention to the fact that
attempts were being made to revise the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal.
"Attempts to equalize the victims and the executors, the liberators
and the occupiers are deeply amoral," the Russian Foreign Ministry went on
to say. Moscow believes that the verdict of the European Court of Human
Rights on the case of Russian war veteran Vasily Kononov is an example of
such an approach.
"The fact of opening in the historical Court Room 600, where all the
hearings took place, of a museum exposition telling the truth about the
trial and its history is, indeed, perceived as a deeply symbolic event,"
the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
After the ceremony at the Palace of Justice that will also be attended
by representatives of the United States, Britain and France, Russian
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with his German opposite
number Guido Westerwelle. The two ministers are going to have their
fourth full-scale meeting this year.
Lavrov and Westerwelle will discuss the talks of practical interaction
of the two countries in the light of the G-20 summit in Seoul and the
Russia-NATO Council meeting in Lisbon.
"Special attention will be paid to how to fill the forthcoming OSCE
summit in Astana with meaningful content," the Russian Foreign Ministry
said. The Russian and German foreign ministers will exchange views on
Afghanistan, Iran's nuclear program and promotion of peace in the Middle
East.
On a bilateral basis, the ministers will discuss the preparation of
draft agreements on the work of cultural and information centres and
reciprocal facilitation of the visa regime.
