Russia, India discuss setting up of facility for making NPP equipment.
NEW DELHI, November 19 (Itar-Tass) -- India and Russia are actively
discussing the possibilities for the setting up of a facility, which will
manufacture equipment for nuclear power plants, Director General of the
Russian State-Run Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko said
on Friday.
"We are negotiating with a great number of Indian machine-building
companies about the possible location of a facility," he said, adding that
the talks are under way with four big Indian companies.
"Next year, we should start the construction of the facility for the
production of equipment and parts for nuclear power plants," Kiriyenko
said.
In his opinion, the above-mentioned plans are of huge topicality with
due account of the Russian-Indian large-scale program for the development
of the peaceful atomic energy industry.
Kiriyenko reaffirmed that the Russian-Indian agreements on atomic
energy cooperation envisages construction of 20 power units in India with
Russia's participation.
