ZANDANSHATAR MEETS JAPANESE COUNTERPART

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ As part of the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj's visit in Japan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Zandanshatar held an official meeting with Mr. Seiji Maehara, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on Tuesday.
The Foreign Ministers expressed a mutual satisfaction with the intensive development of the bilateral relations and unanimously agreed the importance of removing the Mongolian-Japanese ties to the next level. In addition, they emphasized the importance of increasing a frequency of regular and high levels mutual visits and expressed a mutual interest in holding an annual meeting of Foreign Ministers of ther two countries.
The parties noted that the Agreement on Economic Cooperation (EPA) plays an important role in expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and in promoting them to a new, higher quality level and agreed to immediately begin a dialogue on the conclusion of this document.
The Ministers said Mongolia and Japan are willing to promote the all round cooperation especially in areas such as mining, mineral resources, agriculture, livestock-farming. During the meeting, the Japanese side said that it will send their experts to Ulaanbaatar in order to provide technical assistance in dealing with cases of foot-and-mouth livestock disease in Mongolia.
Then the Japanese Foreign Minister Maehara said their side is ready to receive in 2011 some 50 experts from Mongolia, who work in the fields of agriculture, power engineering and seismology, in order to improve their skills and have them undergo training in Japan.
The Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international cooperation and agreed to pursue a policy of supporting each other in the international arena and within the framework of the UN.
