US Attorney to announce extradition of Viktor Bout to US

NEW YORK, November 17 (Itar-Tass) - Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for
the Southern District of New York, will hold a press conference on
Wednesday at which he will announce the extradition to the United States
of Russian citizen Viktor Bout accused of illegal weapons trade, a
spokeswoman for the Prosecutor's Office of the Southern District, told
Itar-Tass.
The press conference scheduled to begin at 11.00 am local time (7.00
pm Moscow time) will be attended by Thomas Harrigan, Assistant
Administrator and Chief of Operations of the principal department for
fighting drugs of the federal government. Representatives of this
department conducted an operation several years ago to frame up Viktor
Bout and claimed that they had found alleged evidence to compromise Bout.
Agents of this department accompanied Bout during a long flight from
Thailand to the United States, where Bout was brought late on Tuesday New
York time.
