Bout`s lawyer to file suit against officials for his extradition.
BANGKOK, November 17 (Itar-Tass) - The lawyer of Russian businessman
Viktor Bout, Lac Nitiwat Wichan intends to sue the officers involved in
his extradition to the United States.
"We see that many gross violations of the law have taken place," he
said in an interview with Itar-Tass. "In the next two days I will raise
all the documents and start litigation against those involved in
extradition proceedings, including officials at the highest level."
Lac Nitiwat Wichan also expressed his readiness to go to the United
States to "provide all necessary assistance to the businessman." "I'm
ready to fly to the United States to testify in defence of Viktor," he
said.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Thailand Abhisit Vejjajiva told reporters
that he will "continue to work with Russia to clarify the situation with
Bout's extradition to the United States." The prime minister continues to
insist that "Bout's extradition has nothing to do with politics, and
Thailand did not have any reason to reverse the decision of the Appeals
Court." "We can not please everyone," added Vejjajiva.
The prime minister's secretariat also noted that "the Cabinet decision
was taken in accordance with the ruling of the court, and the accusations
against Thai authorities are unfounded."
