Majlis seeks to restore administration’s authority over central bank: MP
TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) -- MP Vali Ismaeli announced on Monday that more than 50 parliament members have drawn up an amendment plan to restore the authority of the government over the central bank.
The move came as the Majlis on Sunday voted in a favor of a bill which changes the combination of the bank’s board of directors including a removal of the president from the board.
The Majlis has said the ratification is in line with the policy of giving more independence to the bank. The government has protested the bill.
According to the parliamentary ratification, the board includes minister of economic affairs and finance, the deputy president for strategic planning, national prosecutor general, the chamber of commerce chairman and 7 economists with at least 15 years of experience.
