Int`l conference on technology & ecology at railways opening in St Pete

St PETERSBURG, November 16 (Itar-Tass) - Technology & Ecological
Safety on Transport /TEBTRANS'2010/ international workshop focusing on
railways opens here Tuesday.
High-speed trains Sapsan and Allegro and the diesel-electric hybrid
trains that have been put into operation on the railway lines of Russia's
northwest regions are destined to improve considerably the ecological
situation in this part of the country.
A slashing of hazardous emissions in the process of drive engine
operations offers one of the best ways of sparing the environment from
excessive contamination, and this will be one of the central issues at the
workshop discussions, experts on the organizing committee of the
conference told Itar-Tass.
Russia's national railway system operator, the RZD, acts at the
general partner of this assembly of researchers, transport executives,
lawyers, experts of the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of
Consumer Rights, and designers of new technologies.
A draft resolution of the workshop says the current levels of global
contamination of the environment have pushed the consideration of
innovative transport ecology projects to the rank of top priorities.
Reports will be made at the conference on novel technological systems
for ensuring the ecological safety of enterprises related to transport,
safe labor conditions for workers, and the training of appropriate
personnel for this branch of the economy.
The participants will also take a look at the research works and new
proposals in the field of efficient and secure technology operations, the
designing of low-waste technologies, and improvements in the standards of
corporate management of labor safety.
The itinerary of the workshop includes an exhibition and a
presentation of up-to-date means for protection of transport workers in
various emergency situations and natural calamities.
