RF, India, PRC agree to coop in energy security, innovations-FM

WUHAN (China), November 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia, India and China have agreed to develop cooperation in the field of energy security and
innovations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on the results of a tripartite meeting in Wuhan on Monday.
"We have agreed to define concretely cooperation on issues of energy security and launch innovation cooperation between corresponding centres in Russia, India and China," the Russian minister stressed. He also said that these are two new directions of cooperation within the framework of RIC ("Russia-India-China").
Lavrov highly assessed the results of the tripartite meeting. "RIC is approved as an important tool of forming multi-polar world order," he said. "All the three countries are strategic partners for each other."
The minister informed that at Monday's meeting the sides discussed
coordination of actions in international and regional structures, in
particular in BRIC, SCO, different structures of dialogues of the Asia
Pacific region.
"As of next year Russia will be a full partner of
East-Asian summits," Lavrov recalled. "This is an additional floor of
dialogues."
The minister said that the sides exchanged opinions on Afghanistan, Middle East settlement and Iran. "We have common stands regarding all these issues," he said.
Problems of preventing and liquidating the effects of emergency
situations, healthcare and agriculture were among the issues which were actively discussed at the meeting of RIC foreign ministers.
As Lavrov said, a regular RIC ministerial meeting will be held on the territory of Russia in the second half of 2011. The sides also discussed plans to hold a summit of BRIC leaders in 2011.
