Qashqavi: Economic diplomacy to be followed vigorously in favor of commercial exchanges

Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Expatriates' Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said here on Thursday that the ministry seeks to promote economic diplomacy in a bid to boost trade in the province, region and world.

Addressing a meeting of provincial workshop on non-oil exports in Ahvaz, he also noted that Khuzestan province's ties with the Iraqi provinces of Missan and Basra have improved over recent years.

'However, we have a long way ahead to achieve the desired results,' he said, hoping that the capacities will be fully used to attain the satisfactory level.

Describing sisterhood cooperation between Khuzestan province and provinces from China and Turkey as useful, Qashqavi also said that Iran diplomacy apparatus will try to forge closer ties between them.

Khuzestan has numerous capacities in different fields such as rich sources of energy which should be utilized in line with establishing sustainable peace and friendship with other countries and deepening ties, he noted.

The official also said that given its cultural and historical sites, the province has the capacity to attract foreign tourists.

He also called for identifying the Khuzestani expatriates so as to encourage them to invest in the province and have cultural contact with their hometown.
