.RF General Staff Academy delegation to visit NATO Defense College.
MOSCOW, November 15 (Itar-Tass) -- The delegation of professors from
the Russian General Staff Academy will visit the NATO Defence College in
Rome from November 15 to 19, the press service of the Russian Defence
Ministry told Itar-Tass on Sunday. The chief of the Russian General Staff
Academy Vladimir Yakovlev will head the delegation.
"Russian military educators will give several lectures on a broad
range of issues to the college students. Specifically, they will dwell on
Russian military policy, the progress of reforms in the Russian Armed
Forces, regional and global security," the press service reported.
In early October the NATO delegation visited the Russian General Staff
Academy, where the NATO officials gave several lectures of mutual interest.
.Strong cyclone raging on Sakhalin, Kolyma, Kamchatka.
VLADIVOSTOK, November 15 (Itar-Tass) -- A strong cyclone, which is
raging on the Pacific coast of Russia, hit Sakhalin, Kolyma and Kamchatka
on Monday. The storm disrupted the operation of the Vanino-Kholmsk ferry
line, which is running across the Tatar Strait (the north of the Sea of
Japan (the East Sea)). An Aeroflot flight to the Kamchatka Peninsula from
the Moscow airport Sheremetyevo was delayed for 24 hours. The Magadan
Region received an urgent warning about a coming cyclone on Monday
morning. The Sea of Okhotsk is raging off the Magadan regional coast and
is threatening to freighters and fishing vessels.
A duty officer of the Sakhalin shipping company reported that the
waves are 3-4 meters high in the Tatar Strait. According to reports from
Kolyma, the waves reached five meters in the north of the Sea of Okhotsk.
The weather forecasters reported the high winds of up to 25 meters per
second, heavy snowfalls and blizzards along the whole Pacific coast of
Russia. The visibility does not exceed 500-1,000 meters on the Sakhalin
mountain passes.
A strong cyclone will keep raging on Sakhalin, Kolyma and Kamchatka
for two days and will subside then. The cyclone has already left the
Primorsky Territory, where it is sunny and frosty on Monday morning.
.Russia to participate in OECD pubic governance directorate session.
ROME, November 15 (Itar-Tass) -- The official celebrations on the
occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD) will begin in Venice on Monday. The
OECD Directorate for Public Governance and Territorial Development will
hold a session in Venice on the island with the divine patron of St.
George. Minister of Economic Development Elvira Nabiullina will represent
Russia at the session.
High on the agenda of the OECD directorate session are higher
efficiency of public and municipal services in view of a reviving economy
after the world financial crisis, the introduction of innovations in the
work of the governments, the use of information technologies in public
services, the cooperation between the authorities and citizens in order to
make the work of governments more transparent, the Italian hosts of the
session said. The participants will also discuss the problems of
cooperation between state and local authorities, the prospects in the
struggle against corruption, the buildup of the human resources in the
public service, as well as the indicators reflecting the efficiency of the
work of the governments.
At the Venice forum Elvira Nabiullina is expected to meet with OECD
Secretary-General Angel Gurria to discuss the details of the negotiations
on Russia's full-fledged accession in OECD. Russia has the observe status
in several OECD bodies, including the Directorate for Public Governance
and Territorial Development.
Nabiullina will also have negotiations with Italian Minister of Public
Administration and Innovation Renato Brunetta on the current situation and
further development of Russian-Italian cooperation.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is one of
the leading international economic organizations designed to negotiate and
develop a common economic policy of highly industrialized countries. OECD
was established in 1960. The OECD forerunner was the Organization for
European Economic Cooperation established in 1947 to administer American
and Canadian aid under the Marshall Plan for the restoration of Europe
after World War II.
