GPC, JMP to agree on election law amendment soon

SANA'A, Aug. 06 (Saba) - The agreement on amendments to the election law between General People Congress (GPC) and the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) is imminent.

Islah Party-run alsahwa.net quoted the chairman of the JMP Supreme Council Abdul Wahab al-Anesi as saying that there are some issues still under discussion and will be settled soon.

"Some people have their own plans so they refused this contact between the GPC and JMP", al-Anesi said.

The chairman of the Information Department at the GPC Tareq al-Shami has affirmed that his party and the JMP had reached an agreement on the election law amendments during the dialogue sessions held between the two sides in the previous weeks.

He noted that a number of small details have been referred to the parliament as it is the only body that is concerned with discussing the law and legislation amendment drafts and passing them.
