PM talks refugees with Thai leader

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has held talks with the Thai leader Abhisit Vejjajiva
on the regional processing of asylum seekers.
The prime minister of Thailand raised the issue during a bilateral discussion with
Ms Gillard on the sidelines of the APEC leaders summit in Yokohama.
Ms Gillard said Mr Abhisit had talked about the stresses of people movement,
especially from Burma, on his country.
"We briefly discussed my proposals for a regional protection framework and a
regional processing centre," she said.
The Thai leader had agreed to further talks, she said.
"We both acknowledged that there's a real issue here. It's an issue that affects
both our nations. We are looking for solutions. Australia has put forward this
proposal and he wants to keep discussing it."
