PM asks plan to prevent any increase of food materials in coming Ramadan
SANA'A, Aug. 04 (Saba)- Prime Minister Ali Mujawar gave orders on Monday to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to draw an extraordinary plan to double monitoring efforts on prices and quality of food products for coming period especially in Holy month of Ramadan.
Mujawar headed a meeting in the ministry over current situation of foods in the local markets and measures to stabilize prices of food materials during the holy month.
He also asked local council in Sana'a city and other governorates to hold meetings with officials of the commercial and industrial chambers to prevent any increase in food materials during Ramadan.
Mujawar made it clear that the government is working with the private sector as partner to continue supplying the markets with the basic food materials, calling on wheat experts to consider current decrease in prices of wheat internationally.
He asked from the ministry of trade to prepare a list of authorities that impose illegal fee on goods, saying that the government would audit those who do that.
For his part, the Minister of Trade and Industry Yahya al-Mutawakel reviewed efforts of the ministry to enhance monitoring on foods in cooperation with the local authority.
He said that the food situation in the country is stable and basic food materials are available according to reports of the ministry's offices across the country.
