Bhutan minister calls for expansion of ties with Iran

Bhutan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk called for expansion of economic and trade ties with Iran.


In a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Commerce Mehdi Ghazanfari, he hoped his visit to Tehran paved the way for starting a new chapter of cooperation between the two countries in many areas including trade, agriculture and energy.

Ghazanfari said Iran was ready to dispatch an economic-trade delegation to Bhutan to get familiar with the capacities there.

Pointing to Iran’s capacities in providing many of the items Bhutan imports from foreign countries like petrochemical, chemical, mineral and oil products, he also voiced Iran’s readiness to export technical and engineering services to the country.
