Iran, Bulgaria ink MoU to cooperate on standardization of goods
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Bulgaria in Sofia on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate on standardization of goods.
The MoU was signed by visiting Iranian Standard Organization Nizamuddin Barzegari and his Bulgarian Counterpart Ivan Borov in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital.
Borov described ceding the standardization of goods to the private sector as the main responsibility of the governments.
Referring to the membership of two countries in International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Bulgarian officials called for enhanced cooperation in this respect.
Barzegari’s visit is made upon the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart.
Iranian official also invited the Bulgarian counterpart to visit Iran.
Accepting the invitation, head of Bulgarian standard organization said that he would visit the Islamic Republic of Iran in near future.
ISO is an international-standard-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organizations.
Founded in 1947, the organization promulgates worldwide proprietary industrial and commercial standards.
It has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and defines itself as a non-governmental organization, its ability to set standards that often become law, either through treaties or national standards, makes it more powerful than most non-governmental organizations.
