HEALTH SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first 10 months of 2010, the number of live births decreased by 2,236 to 55,453, the number of mothers delivered children decreased by 2,246 or 3.9 percent to 55,244, against the same period of the previous year.
In the first 10 months of 2010, child mortality aged 1-5 increased by 101 or 52.9 percent to 292, while infant mortality decreased by 39 or 3.5 percent to 1,083, the number of maternal deaths by 17 or 44.7 percent to 21, compared to the same period
of the previous year.
During the mentioned periode, the number of infectious diseases cases was 32.8 thousand, up by 543 cases or 1.7 percent compared to the same period of 2009.
21 persons infected by HIV/AIDS were newly recorded, and the total HIV/AIDS cases reached 83 nationwide. In October of 2010, two HIV/AIDS cases were newly recorded in Ulaanbaatar.
