AZERBAIJAN`S DEFENSE MINISTER MEETS PAKISTAN`S NEWLY APPOINTED
Baku, AUGUST 5,(AzerTAj) - Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Safar Abiyev met Monday with Pakistan`s newly appointed ambassador to Baku Abdul Hamid.
Mr. Abiyev told of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, and prospects of cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister also spoke of the complicated situation in the region, in particular, the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and obstacles to a peaceful settlement to the dispute. According to the Minister, his country will resort to other means to liberate its occupied territories unless peaceful settlement to the conflict is achieved. “We will never allow Armenia to continue its aggressive
policyâ€, added S. Abiyev.
Mr. Abdul Hamid, in turn, said Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence. He also stressed his country recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan.
