Two men stabbed in the Hunter
(AAP) Two men are in hospital after being stabbed in an incident north of Newcastle.
A group of men left a club about 11.20pm (AEDT) on Friday and were walking along
Shoal Bay Road, in Shoal Bay, when they came into contact with three other men and a
woman at the intersection with Government Road.
A short time later, an 18-year-old man was stabbed number of times.
He was given first aid at the scene and treated at a local medical clinic before
being taken to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
About 3.50am on Saturday police arrested a 25-year-old man but he was released
without charge.
The man was then taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the wounding of both
men, and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Port Stephens
Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
