Hanoi (VNA) - China and Cambodia inked a total of 16 deals worth 6.4 billion
USD in numeours areas, ranging from infrastructure construction to energy
exploration, in Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh on November 4.

According to the Chinese News Agency (Xinhua), the agreements were signed after
the hour-long talks between the Chinese Chairman of the Standing Committee of the
National People’s Congress (NPC) Wu Bangguo and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun
Sen.

The package of deals cover such key areas of bilateral cooperation as
infrastructure construction, water resources development, telecommunication
technology and energy exploration among others.

In earlier talks, the two sides agreed on the need to step up cooperation between
China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and East Asia .


Chairman Wu underlined China ’s commitment to developing ties with Cambodia
.

He proposed the two countries deepen agriculture cooperation, encouraging Chinese
businesses to expand agricultural products trade with Cambodia and play a bigger
part in transportation, electricity and telecommunications construction in
Cambodia .

Chaiman Wu is also scheduled to meet with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and
legislative leaders on November 5.

Cambodia is the first leg of Chairman Wu's three-nation visit to Southeast Asia,
which will also take him to Indonesia and Thailand.-Enditem
