THE PARTY TAKES BACK ITS INITIAL NAME

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) has been re-named as the Mongolian People's Party--Mongol Ardyn Nam (MPP). It happened at around 19 pm during the 26th Congress of the former MPRP.
Almost all the 800 participants, except six, voted for the draft resolution on changing the name of the party. Among standing against were former president N.Enkhbayar and Ts.Shinebayar MP.
Not less inspiration for voting "for" was given by former president N.Bagabandi and others who addressed with the appeal in a form of the Mongolian lyrics.
Thus the word "revolutionary" has been deleted from the oldest in the country party's name being left for the history, and the initial name has been revived. Secretary-General of the party U.Khurelsukh showed the very first seal of the MPP Central Committee made in 1912 and said,"The party's name 'Mongol Ardyn' was consecrated by His Holiness Bogd and created by D.Bodoo (that times Premier)," and sincerely congratulated the gathered.
There was an atmosphere of excitement, several times was shown a scene from the "Morning" history feature film where the military leader D.Sukhbaatar says "Long live the People's Party and the People's Power!", cheerful and loud applause continued for some time.
The MPP Head S.Batbold said in his speech that the party is determined to be the political force that combines traditions and renovation. "This name inherited from our fathers and mothers has been kept in minds of our members the last 20 years, and today it has come back. Our people are contented, so let's be contented in real!" he exclaimed.
On Monday next week, the authorities of the MPP will go to the Supreme Court to have their party officialy registered with the new name.
