MOSCOW, November 3 (Itar-Tass) - Over 1,000 Russian and foreign
scientists, cultural figures and representatives of public organizations
from 70 countries will take part in the Russian World Foundation (RWF) 4th
Assembly that opens here on Wednesday.

concerning the use of the Russian language, and work out new approaches to
and orientations for the RWF development and accomplishment of its
mission. The Assembly has been organized by the RWF.
RWF Director Vyacheslav Nikonov has pointed out that the main purpose
of the forum is "patently to reflect the mounting international interest
in the study of the Russian language and culture".
"A wide range of matters relating to the history and philosophy of the
'Russian world', the popularization of the Russian culture and language,
the problems of diasporas, and the development of the Russian-language
media are being brought up for discussion at the Assembly," Nikonov said.
Sergei Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council upper house of the
Russian parliament, Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma lower house
of parliament, Alexander Zhukov, Vice-Premier, Sergei Lavrov, Minister of
Foreign Affairs, and other statesmen and public figures of Russia have

288 million people of most diverse nationalities. Russia's Foreign
Ministry and the Ministry of Education and Science are among the founders
of this public organization.
"By disseminating knowledge about Russia, its language, history and
culture, the RWF engages, in essence, in fashioning the country's positive
image abroad. This is an advancement of the Russian world in a broad sense
of the word," Nikonov emphasized.
The RWF implements numerous educational programmes for Russian
philology teachers and students. In the year 2010, the RWF has launched a
Russian World Study Room programme. The number of such 'study rooms' in
